WomenStories congratulates The Buffalo Chapter of Sister’s Network on their Chapter of The Year Award! Sisters Network, a National African American Breast Cancer Survivors’ Organization held their 6th annual Conference on April 3-6 in Houston, Texas. The Buffalo, New York chapter received the Chapter Of The Year Award, along with an all expense paid trip to the conference for 13 sisters. Bertha Hill, the Buffalo Chapter President accepted the award on behalf of all the sisters in all of the Chapters. Bertha Hill, Paulette Thompson and Liya Razor of the local chapter are stars in several WomenStories videos. The connection doesn’t stop there; Dr. Thelma Hurd is a member of Sisters Network and a member of WomenStories Board of Directors. Marilyn Deans, a member of Sister’s Network made an art bra for our fundraiser, BRAvo! called “Sister’s Pledging To Fight For The Cause,” which is the October bra in our BRAvo! calendar. Sister’s Network deserves national recognition for its outstanding efforts in education and outreach in the Buffalo African American Community. These women have worked hard to get this organization started and to bring attention to the devastating impact of breast cancer on their community.
